Check out the newly opened Bangkok Kitchen located along Penang Road in the heart of Georgetown.

The new eatery is occupying the former Soho Pub premises along Penang Road.

Soho Pub was once the hive of activity for party-goers in the late 90’s and the early 2000’s with its vibrant atmosphere, music and deejays.

Fast forward, Bangkok Kitchen is also no stranger to the food & beverage business as they already have another outlet on the island.

The first is the Bangkok Tomyam in Bayan Lepas which was opened way back in 1989.

The eatery is a family business which is now run by Fariq Rizal who is the owner. He is also a qualified chef by profession.

“Thai food runs in the family legacy as we are passionate about offering affordable and authentic Thai dishes. Among our favourite dishes are Seafood Tomyam, Nasi Goren Daging Merah, Fusion Homok seafood Thai style, Ikan Tiga Rasa among many other choices”, adds Rafiq.

According to him, they spent around RM500k to RM600k to renovate and furnish the new outlet. Among the major work involved renovation, paint job, furniture, wiring, air-conditioning, kitchen area, equipment and other aspects. They opened for business in early December and now see a steady stream of guests.

“Both locals and tourists patronise our outlet here in Penang Road as we are open from 12pm to 12am. Our main Chef Sunida Benhawan is from Thailand and specialises in a variety of cuisine. She is helped by a team of assistants”. added Rafiq.

They are now preparing for the up-coming fasting month and will feature some special dishes for those who want to break fast.

Rafiq added that they purchase many of the ingredients directly from their supplier in Thailand and a lorry supplies them the goods weekly.

“Our pricing is quite reasonable as we want to cater for as many people as we can. We also offer a variety of drinks, fruit juices and desserts to cater for the young and small kids too”, said Rafiq to Penang Hyperlocal.
