The Penang Port Commission (SPPP) together with the Klang Port Authority (LPK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indian Port Association in New Delhi recently.
Representing Malaysia at the event was Dato’ Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Secretary General of Ministry of Transport Malaysia along with Dato Yeoh Soon Hin for PPC.
The initiative is to establish an important partnership with India through the India-Malaysia Ports Alliance (IMPA).
The Malaysian delegation was welcomed by Shri T.K. Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways of India.
The MoU aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in exploring high-potential areas and sharing best practices in port infrastructure development, shipping policy reform, and sustainable maritime management.
It also aims to promote trade between Malaysia and India, develop the cruise industry, provide training, and facilitate the exchange of maritime technology.
By strengthening trade relations and encouraging knowledge sharing, Malaysia seeks to enhance its position in the global market and improve its industry capabilities
However, the scope of this partnership is not limited to these benefits alone, as it will expand according to current needs to ensure future relevance.
