In a celebration that captured the essence of the holiday spirit, Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and Shangri-La Golden Sands ushered in the festive season with their annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies, held in the heart of the lobbies of these iconic resorts in Batu Feringgi.
The festivities commence at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, general manager Jegan Selvarajan, in a symbolic gesture, struck a ceremonial gong that set aglow a resplendent Christmas tree and a meticulously crafted Gingerbread House.
The event drew an audience of 300 guests, among them children from the Penang Shan Children’s Home and beneficiaries of the resort’s Embrace Gift of Life project. The heartwarming sight of Santa Claus distributing gifts and sweets delighted the young attendees.
The Penang Adventist Church choir provided a musical backdrop with their harmonious renditions of timeless Christmas classics, fostering an atmosphere of festive cheer and encouraging guests to sing along.
The following evening, the celebration continued at Shangri-La Golden Sands, where the lobby was transformed into a scene of family holiday enchantment. The evening highlighted the spirit of giving through the resort’s CSR initiative by supporting underprivileged children from the Crystal Family Home and beneficiaries of the Gift of Limbs project, who were welcomed as special guests.
The Lighthouse Community carollers added to the festive mood with their delightful renditions of Christmas classics such as “Silent Night,” “Feliz Navidad,” and “Jingle Bells,” enhancing the festive spirit. Santa Claus once again made a memorable appearance, spreading cheer with his jolly demeanor and sweet treats.
