A group of ambassadors and officials from the Nordic countries are on their visit to Penang. 

Among them were the ambassadors from Norway and Finland. 

They were HE Anne Vasara, the ambassador of Finland to Malaysia, HE Morten Pauleen, the ambassador of Norway to Malaysia and HE Niklas Wiberg, the ambassador of Sweden to Malaysia.

They were accompanied by officials of the Nordic Business Chambers and Council.  

They paid a courtesy call on Deputy Penang Chief Minister 11, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo at his office in Komtar.

“I am most honoured to receive the courtesy calls from the Ambassadors of Norway and Finland and the delegates of the Nordic Business Chambers and Councils. 

“The day before, it was the Ambassador of Sweden whom I met in my office. And last week, I welcomed the Mayor of Katsushika City and the Chairman of Katsushika City Council as well as Ms Megna J representing the Film Industry of India”, said Jagdeep referring to the stream of foreign visitors to Penang.

Meanwhile, the group also attended the Malaysian-German Society’s Oktoberfest celebrations to partake in the music and food at the festival. 

The MGS Oktoberfest is being held for the 50th year marking the close ties and fellowship between Penang, Malaysia and Germany.

The Nordic countries include the sovereign states of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden; the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland; and the autonomous region of Ă…land.
