The Entopia in Teluk Bahang is currently holding the “Wonders of Electron Microscopy” showcase till October 1, 2024 for the benefit of the members of the public.

The educational programme is a collaboration with Hi-Tech Instruments Sdn Bhd who have loaned their state-of-the-art “Scanning Electron Microscope” or SEM as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Visitors have a chance to view incredibly detailed, high-resolution images of natural specimens, revealing structures and details invisible to the human eye.

Present to launch the programme was Penang Deputy Chief Minister 11, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo.

Also present was the managing director of Hi-Tech Instruments, Tay Khoon Yang along with the chief executive officer of Entopia, Joseph Goh.

In his address, Jagdeep congratulated Hi-Tech Instruments and Entopia for bringing such a beneficial programme for the benefit of visitors to Entopa.

“I also urge members of the public to come and experience the amazing world of these specimens and learn about nature and its beauty.

“This exhibition not only highlights the marvels of modern technology but also encourages the younger generation to explore careers in the STEM fields”, he said.

He also emphasized that STEM is the future of the country, especially in the context that despite being a small state, Penang contributes to 5% of the world’s semiconductor industry.

Meanwhile, Goh expressed his excitement over the exhibition’s potential to inspire future generations.

“Through this exhibition, we aim to ignite the passion for science and natural exploration. The SEM’s ability to reveal the beauty and complexity of nature on a microscopic level is a powerful tool for education”, he added.

In winding up the speeches, Tay added that the collaboration aligns with their vision to support education and foster curiosity through science.

As part of the programme, the Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies of Universiti Sains Malaysia will conduct two special workshops on Sept 24 to educate students and members of the public on the secrets of the marine world under SEM.

Jagdeep later tried his hands on the SEM to display minute details of a specimen in focus and mark the launch of the exhibition.

He also joined guests to tour the park and released newly born butterflies in the compound of Entopia.
