In anticipation of the up-coming 67th Merdeka celebrations, the Penang Deputy Chief Minister 11, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo along with the Member of Parliament for Jelutong YB RSN Rayer went on a walkabout to distribute the national flag.
The gesture was to promote the spirit of Merdeka among the members of the public especially in the Datok Keramat constituency.
“We will be going to several places in the constituency to promote the Merdeka spirit and awareness.
“I M glad to see so many people wanting to collect the flags and also coming forward to collect them.
“Let’s come together and move forward as one united country”, said Jagdeep in a press conference at the Kuantan Road market.
Seen were many motorists and motorcycles stopping to collect the flags.
He also added that the state government has done a lot of projects thru the Penang Island City Council from 2018 to 2024. They have done 92 projects worth RM87. 88 million throughout the state.
“A total of 39 flood mitigation projects for widening and deepening drains and rivers at RM 30.42 has also been carried out”, he shared.
In the process, he also thanked the council for their efforts and good work for the community.
The troupe went around the market and nearby areas to give out Malaysian flags and greet the people.
