Delegates from Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Singapore, Indonesia, India, South Africa, Namibia are making their presence at the Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), Penang’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
Prior to the main event, an International Business Networking programme cum dinner was hosted.
The two-day gathering is currently on-going at the Light Hotel Penang. Some 100 delegates gathered at the networking session.
Guest of honour was Penang Deputy Chief Minister II, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo who was greeted by MICCI, Penang president Dato S. Parthiban and his team.
Also present was the Deputy Minister of National Unity, K. Saraswathy.
In his opening address, Jagdeep urged delegates to engage in meaningful conversations and seek out those whose expertise complement each other.
“Discover synergies that can lead to innovative partnerships.
“Penang has over 400 multinational companies from all over the world in Penang not counting the SMEs which number around 6,000 companies.
“We have companies from all over the world in Penang which are high-tech although we are a small state. We contribute 5 percent of semiconductors in the entire world.
“Presently, we are working on a blueprint on how to move forward and push our industries further while the federal government is also keen to emulate our model”, said Jagdeep.
Meanwhile, Parthiban welcomed all local guests and international guests to the networking session for meaningful collaboration.
“This is the opportunity for cross border connection, sharing ideas, partnership and further success”, he said.
Guests also mingled and got to know each other better to explore new business opportunities in the local and international markets.
They were hosted to a fine dinner put out by the F&B team of the Light Hotel Penang.
