Due credit should be given to R Arasu Ramu who is responsible for the setting up of the hall.
He has spent almost RM120,000 of his own funds for overall upgrading and renovation work.
To supplement the overheads of the hall, the Deputy Minister contributed RM10,000 towards the upkeep and maintenance of the hall.
“Among the work we had to carry out were on the flooring, air conditioning, walls, paint work, facade, wiring and the ceilings. The whole task took more than two months to complete. We have already hosted several private functions prior to the official opening”, said Arasu who is also the chairman of the temple and runs his own business in Little India.
The organising committee also requested the Penang Island City Council to consider renaming the road fronting the temple to Lebuh Sri Maha Mariamman.
Meanwhile, handicapped guests can also take advantage of the special access facilities to the hall.
