Tricia Loh delivering her speech at the recent Global Clients Appreciation luncheon
By V. Sivaji
Meet the new director of business development and marketing at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur – Ms Tricia Loh.
She comes with many sound years of experience in the sales and marketing industry having served in different sectors.
Her last posting was in Penang with an international audit, consulting firm and also a state government agency in the promotion of events, conventions and exhibitions.
However, taking up this post in Kuala Lumpur is actually a “happy homecoming” as she hails from the big city.
In her new capacity, Loh is charged to oversee the sales and marketing team at the hotel and to deliver their objectives.
Penang Hyperlocal had the opportunity to sit down with Loh to explore her plans in moving forward at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel KL recently :-
Question – What is your vision and mission at Berjaya Times Square Hotel KL ?
Answer – My immediate task is to reinvigorate BTSH as the preferred meeting venue for both the local & international business events in Kuala Lumpur, complimenting with Berjaya Hospitality Vision: The Leading Convention Hotel in Kuala Lumpur
Q – Which is the market segment Berjaya Times Square is catering for ?
A – We cater for corporations for conferences & meetings. We currently have a good clientele of Indian, Singaporean and Vietnamese guests. Our ideal location adjacent to the Berjaya Times Square Shopping Mall surely helps a lot and we are also in close proximity to the KL monorail system.
Q – What are the number of rooms and facilities at the hotel ?
A – We have a total of 539 rooms & suites including Penthouses, 15 Function Rooms with a Grand Ballroom for 2,000 pax, Club Lounge, Business Centre, Swimming Pool, Tennis Court, Gym, Bar & Restaurants, Spa
Q – Are your guests mostly local or foreign ?
A – 70% of our guests are foreigners mainly from India, Singapore, Vietnam and the Arab market.
Q – What are the current promotions you are running ?
A – Our Club Rooms with enhanced benefits including shopping perks in Berjaya Times Square Mall. All our in-house guests are entitled 20% instant rebate on admission to the Malaysia’s largest indoor theme park, Berjaya Times Square Theme Park
Q – On a personal note, how do you unwind after a hard day’s work?
A – My start of the day is as early as 4.30am everyday, frankly my body battery would drain approaching the evenings. Simply, digital detox and having a bowl of plain porridge with blanched vegetable & steamed pomfret is my favourite time. I am still a very traditional person. I read physical newspapers The Star and The Edge in the evenings.
Q – Any other information you might want to share ?
A – A hotel without a team of passionate and committed talents is soulless. As important as our global clients, I want to also credit my team from the BD team to the Banquet Team, from the Kitchen team to the Housekeeping & Front Office team for their unwavering commitment and dedication to all our valued guests and partners. Some associates have been working since day one in 2003. I am committed to unlocking greater heights with them and impacting the industry positively.
Penang Hyperlocal wishes Loh all the very best in her new undertakings and her endeavours to bring Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur to the next level.
