The start of the New Year brought great news for G Hotel Gurney when they were awarded the prestigious ASEAN MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Exhibitions) Venue Standard 2024 – 2026 Award under the Meeting Rooms category for the second time.
The G Hotel was the only hotel in Penang to receive the commendable recognition.
The event was held at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2024 that was held in Vientiane, Laos recently.
Present to receive the award was G Hotel’s complex general manager, Michael Hanratty.
On hand to present the award was the Secretary General, Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Dato’ Roslan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman.
The event was attended by the travel industry professionals as well as representatives and delegates from all ASEAN member countries.
Other winners in the category were the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Wyndham Acmar Klang, Shangri-La Rasa Ria Kota Kinabalu and Sunway Resort Hotel.
The ASEAN MICE Venue Standard was introduced in 2018 to recognize businesses and destinations in ASEAN which comply with the standards of tourism services for convention and meeting rooms in hotels and convention centres.
G Hotel Gurney was rated based on several criteria such as physical settings of all meeting rooms, safety, security and emergency facilities, technologies used in meeting rooms as well as the upscale services provided by G Hotel’s staff members.
