Live band performance, good food and many friends gathered at the Eurasian Fiesta 2023 held at the St Xavier’s Institution yesterday evening.
In all, about 350 members, guests and friends turned up to show support to the fun gathering.
The occasion also showcased authentic Eurasion food like Devil curry, Sugee cake, Curry Puffs, Pineapple Jam Tarts, Marbled Jelly, Macaroons, Bread Pudding, Banana Cake and many more which were on offer.
There was also lots of dancing and live band performance led by the iconic Kathleen Rodriques and her band put out a down memory lane numbers.
New Penang Eurasian Association president, Peter Pedley welcomed all members and guests for the gathering. He also called upon them to forge friendship and camaraderie.
“The organising committee has put in much time, hard work and dedication over the past two months organising this fiesta.
“Food is an art, an enjoyment of culture, bringing families and communities together.
“Since our association is facing an ageing membership, the committee aims to embark on a youth membership drive for the younger generation,” said Pedley in his opening address.
He also added that the Eurasion community formed an integral part of the multi-racial society in Penang.
“The Penang Eurasian Association will strive to be more assertive about our ethnic identity, revitalising and improving the position of the Eurasion community socially and Politically,” he added.
Guests also had a gala time sampling all of the food and fine music performed by talented musicians.
Among theĀ office bearers of PEA are Colleen Read, Godfrey Westwood, May Baum (Secretary), Doreen Oxley, Barbara Stewart, Philip Theiseira, Lawrence Tan, Millie Rozells (Treasurer), Fred McGuire, Veronica Jacobs, Sandra Fernandez, Jack Rollele and Sunny King.
