The Minister of Local Government Development, YB Nga Kor Ming brought good news for Penangites when he allocated RM100 million for the affordable homes project at Kota Giam in Jelutong here.
Present at the launch was the State Exco for Housing, Local Government,Town and Country Planning YB Jagdeep Singh Deo along with Member of Parliament for Jelutong RSN Rayer and other officials.
“This is what we call delivery and when we work together in a unity government, we will fulfill the aspirations of the people. There will be 575 units available for the people upon completion of this project.
“We thank the hardworking minister for his allocation today and also for the earlier RM24 million for the upgrading of the market in Bukit Mertajam.
“Presently, we have achieved 68.8% of our affordable homes target of 220,000 or 150,955 units as to-date.
“We are focussed on this delivery of homes for the low and medium income bracket,” said Jagdeep.adding that although Penang is the second smallest state in the country it contributes RM7 billion in taxes annually to the federal government.
Jagdeep also added that there will be more affordable home projects on the mainland to benefit the rakyat.
“This is the right federal government,” he exclaimed.
Meanwhile, Nga will also visit various areas on the island and mainland while on his working trip here.
