Improve state government efforts to manage and monitor projects like the Penang South Island and other projects

“The collaboration would support the State Government’s efforts to meet management and monitoring requirements in the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) and Penang South Island (PSI) project, which is expected to kick off in the third quarter of this year.

“The satellite images from MYSA, he said, could show the projects’ development status or continuous progress at the work sites. A particular focus for the State Government, he explained, would be monitoring the PSI reclamation activities in the sea, such as dredging and sand filling,” he said.

The collaboration would also help the monitoring agencies, which must coordinate enforcement operations to prevent and act against unauthorised activities like the illegal disposal of dredged materials.

“If we have eyes in the sky, project planning and monitoring as well as confirming information will be easier. We will be able to verify the data or information obtained at the site by reviewing satellite information from MYSA,” he added.
