As a kid many of us would have played the popular board game – monopoly.
Surely, the names like Trafalgar Square, Old Kent Road, Euston Road, Pall Mall, Whitehall, Regent Street will come to your memory.
Soon, you can play the game with the various locations on the board with Penang locations like The Habitat Penang Hill, Kek Lok Si Temple, Clan Jetties, Penang National Park, The Top Penang will be the new properties on the Malaysian version.
The Monopoly Penang version board game is expected to hit the markets in October this year.
Thanks to a collaboration forged between the Penang State Government and Winning Moves board game company from the United Kingdom.
Present at the launching ceremony was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin and Jennifer Lau, Partnership Manager from Winning Moves held at the Top Penang.
Also present was Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan.
“We are delighted to bring Monopoly to Penang. This will be the first Monopoly collaboration in Malaysia and will put Penang as one of the cities on ist world edition.
“Monopoly has been around for more than 100-years and has sold over 275 million copies worldwide.
“This will be an additional channel for us to promote our food, culture, heritage, and nature of Penang,” said Yeoh in his address.
Meanwhile, Lau shared her excitement to be in Penang and make Monopoly a reality.
“We are excited to be in Penang and come up with this new Penang-themed edition. We are sure that the move will enhance Penang as a world destination.

Also present were Penang tourism stakeholders and industry players.
