Malls in Penang have turned up the charm with their decoration in conjunction with the up-oming Deepavali celebration on October 24, 2022.
A majestic peacock takes centre stage at the Gurney Plaza shopping mall this year in conjunction with the up-coming Deepavali celebrations.
The atrium is also decked with kolam designs put up by the School of the Arts USM and Penang Art District.
Shoppers can also redeem Deepavali packets with minimum spend and even roti jala with curry chicken. There will also be dance performances from the Temple of Fine Arts.
The Queensbay Mall in Bayan Lepas has filled its main atrium with colour and lights in keeping with the theme of the Festival of Lights.
Come check out their eye-catching decor and immerse yourself in a dream atmosphere while taking the opportunity for memorable selfies.
Meanwhile, the Sunway Carnival Mall is all set to celebrate the Joy of Deepavali with its “Golden Tree of Lights” on the ground floor. What is more interesting is that the deco is made from discarded plastic bottles.
In line with Sunway’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), #12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
There are also wind chimes and other deco. They celebrate life by turning waste materials into art, giving waste a second life. With this initiative, they hope to show the public how litter is impacting the environment.
The decorations represent the colourful celebration and diverse culture, while the roots of the tree represent the togetherness of being a Malaysian.
One will be greeted by the colourful and beautifully decorated gazebo, housing the golden banyan tree, The Tree of Lights, complemented by the 14ft majestic Rangoli as the centrepiece – which signifies life and happiness surrounded by the vibrancy of colours.
The mighty banyan tree reminds us that we are divine beings living in a material world; the fruit shares the sweetness of life while the leaves wrap us in love.
Performances from Temple of Fine Arts and exciting redemption programme available at Sunway Carnival Mall.
Finally, the Gurney Paragon Mall will be hosting traditional musical performances at its main atrium on Oct 24th for guests to enjoy. They are also holding the “Count & Win” competition for shoppers to take part.
