The Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak launched the “Dari Governor ke Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT)” showcase at the Dewan Sri Pinang yesterday.
Present was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin State Exco for Social Development and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs, Chong Eng and others heads of departments.
Also present was family members of the former governors and TYTs who had served from the year 1957.
Among the past governors were Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT) Raja Tun Uda Al Haj Raja Al Haj Muhammad (1957-1967), Tun Tan Sri Syed Sheh Syed Abdullah Shahabudin (1967 to 1969), Tun Tan Sri Syed Sheh Al-Haj Syed Hassan Barakbah (1969 to 1975), Tun Tan Sri Dato Seri Dato Sardon Jubir (1975 to 1981), Tun Dato Dr Awang Hassan (1981 to 1989), Tun Tan Sri Datuk Dr Hamdan Sheik Tahir (1989 to 2001), Tun Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Abbas (2001 to 2021) and presently Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak being the eight governor.
Lending support was the Consul-General of Japan in Penang Mr Orikasa Hiroyuki, Consul-General of Thailand in Penang Mr Raschada Jiwalai, Consul-General of Indonesia in Penang Mr Bambang Suharto, Penang Museum director Haryany Mohamad among other dignitaries.
“Through this exhibition the members of the public have a chance to see the personal collection of the former governors. We also greatly appreciate the cooperation to loan these items to be put on display.
“It will also help to understand the unique institution of the governorship in Penang. This exhibition will be held till Oct 27 and later move on to the other districts in Penang and end in May 2023,” added Chow in his address.
He also congratulated Yeoh and the museum board in successfully completing the exhibition.
Tun Ahmad Fuzi also presented momentos to the representatives and family members of the former governors and joined them on a tour of the exhibition.
