It was joyous celebration when some 90 students of Disted College in Penang held its Pre-University (Pre-U) Graduation 2019 recently.

They were recognised for their academic excellence and also celebrated the end of their Pre-U studies.

The students had completed their A-Level and SACE-i (South Australia Certificate of Education) studies.

On hand to join the celebration was the President and chief executive officer of Disted College, Dr Seah Soo Aun who congratulated all graduating students.

“Indeed, we are all very proud of the overall achievements of our Pre-U students.

“This is a testament that the college and its academic team has worked hard and diligently to guide our students in their learning and teaching process.

“Producing top achievers has always been the outcome of our continuing achievements,” said Dr Seah.

The highlight of the ceremony saw many academic achievements of the graduating students which were presented with certificate of recognitions and awards by Dr Seah along with the Director of Academic Affairs, Dr Jerry Koay.

Ng Kim Huat, the Country Director (Malaysia & Brunei) Cambridge Assessment International Education also presented and congratulated the graduating students and stressed the importance of getting ready for the next step of their lives.

Among the Top achievers was Bryan Ng Tung Chen who obtained the Best Across Award and Best Subject Award in Economics and Mathematics Method in the SACE-i programme.

“The combination of coursework and exams mirrored the assessment methods in universities had given me the opportunity to familiarise with the new learning styles.

“I have also been lucky to have some dedicated and knowledgeable lecturers who never hesitated to give us the extra help and guidance when we needed it,” said Bryan.

Another A-Level Top achiever Hannah Firzanah Jaafar who was awarded the Best Across Award and Best Subject in Law and English Language.

“I have Ms Bahmini, my Law lecturer to thank for my achievement. Without her guidance, I don’t think I would have been able to obtain the Best Subject Award.

“Disted has taught me good time management. Without proper time management, it’s very easy to fall behind your studies,” added Hannah.

Disted College has been producing Pre-University top achievers since 1987. This was attested by Top Achiever Yap Jiong Yan who obtained the highest score in the world in Mathematics in the recent May/June 2019 AS examinations.

Another Top achiever included Khow Ji Yin who obtained Top in Malaysia Award in English Language in 2018 and Chan Yan Juo who obtained an ATAR of 95.55 in the 2018 SACE-i Examination.
