On day seven of campaigning, Penang Hyperlocal joined the candidate for Padang Kota N26, YAB Chow Kon Yeow who is also the Penang caretaker government’s Chief Minister on his walkabout.
However, this time around, he was helping to canvas votes for the new candidate for Pulau Tikus N25 Woo Sze Zeng who is a newcomer.
The walkabout started as early as 8am as Chow and his team met and greeted members of the public and voters at the Pulau Tikus market.
Vendors and stall operators were out in numbers to greet Chow and were happy to shake hands and pose for selfies with him.
“Although this is not my constituency, I have to assist the new candidates and introduce them to the voters.
“I also have to go to all five districts in the state in my capacity as the Chief Minister, ” he added.
As volunteers handed out leaflets and mini flags, cheers of “Kita Boleh” were heard.
Among them was Steven Mao who operated his T-Shirt stall and requested Chow and Woo for his personal collection. Joining them was Dato Major Latiff, another supporter.
Later in the afternoon, Chow is expected to carry out another walkabout along Lebuh Chulia, Lebuh Muntri, Lebuh Leith, Kampung Malabar, Lebuh Love, Lebuh Market, Lebuh Steward and Lebuh Argus.
In between his busy schedule, Chow also attended the launch of the Ericsson Inauguration of 5G Equipment Manufacturing in Penang at the G Hotel.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital, Teo Nie Ching.
