As they say, “the show must go on”. Despite the Middle East crisis and jet fuel prices increase and flight disruptions, the annual V-Convention is back at the SPICE Arena.

Some 8,000 participants from more than 30 countries are attending the event over five days from June 17 to 21 June 2026.

Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai along with State Exco for Housing and Environment Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu were in attendance at the launch ceremony.

“The theme for the event is “Reform. Perform. Transform.”, closely aligns with the Penang State Government’s commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and sustainable economic growth.

“The theme reflects Penang’s own journey as we continue to reform and improve, perform through effective implementation, and transform our economy to remain competitive, resilient and future-ready. It is a vision that aligns strongly with our efforts to strengthen Penang as a leading destination for tourism, business events and the creative economy,” he said during the opening ceremony at SPICE Arena.

Wong noted that the convention’s return to Penang for the 16th time reflects the state’s proven track record in hosting large-scale international events.

“With approximately 8,000 participants from over 30 countries, V-Convention delivers significant benefits to Penang’s tourism industry and local economy. The event has contributed to full hotel occupancy in the surrounding area, while generating business opportunities for hotels, restaurants, retailers, transport operators and tourism-related businesses,” he said.

He acknowledged the important role of the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) in positioning Penang as a premier business events destination and supporting the successful hosting of international events. He also expressed appreciation to the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Tourism Malaysia for their continued efforts in enhancing Malaysia’s competitiveness within the global business events industry.

Wong also commended The V and QNET for their longstanding partnership with Penang and their continued confidence in the state as the host destination.

He encouraged delegates to take the opportunity to experience Penang’s UNESCO World Heritage attractions, rich multicultural heritage, vibrant creative economy and world-renowned culinary offerings during their stay.
