Many Malaysians have rallied together to help the victims of the floods in Shah Alam contributing daily necessities like food, mattresses, household equipment and clothes.
The Penang Hindu Association and Klinik Derma Sivasanta did their bid to contribute RM8,415.50 worth of medications.
The contribution consisted of 44 types of medicines at the request of Dr Shalini who runs a medical camp for the Sri Muda flood victims.
Dr Shalini herself was one of the victims of the massive floods but still decided to do her bid to help the neighborhood in providing medical services.
The massive floods which hit Selangor and the Klang valley had caught many unsuspecting residents by surprise.
Rising waters disrupted daily lives, so much so that many were forced to take refuge on rooftops to avoid the flood waters.
As rescue work is still being carried out currently, it was found that apart from basic resources, the flood victims also needed medical aid and care as they are susceptible to waterborne illnesses.
One of the badly flood-hit areas was the Taman Sri Muda where Aranda Clinic is located.
Despite their clinic being fully flooded, Dr Shalini and Dr Yuven, both practicing doctors at the clinic, decided to provide free medical assistance to the flood-stricken Sri Muda community and appealed for donations to purchase the required medications.
“Acknowledging the urgency and seriousness of the situation, Penang Hindu Association and Klinik Derma Sivasanta decided to jointly sponsor the full cost of the medication, which would be dispensed by the doctors to the Sri Muda community.
“PHA and KDS is also appealing on behalf of the doctors for any form of help in cash or medical aid to provide further assistance to the Sri Muda community,” said M Murugiah, president of PHA and KDS.
He also added that PHA and KDS feel honored to support the doctors in the likes of Dr.Shalini and Dr.Yuven for their professionalism and empathy and to help people in distress without fear or favor.
“PHA and KDS would also like to thank all donors for your kind donations and support for the above mentioned cause. May the Almighty bless your kindness,” said Murugiah.
“Those wanting to make donations for the god cause, can do so by banking to Klinik Derma Sivasanta clinic Account under *Perbadanan Kesenian Malaysia* Maybank account number No. 507040214254
“Please send us the banking slip and full details needed Name and Address,” he added.
