Tourism Selangor got on-board Seatrade Cruise Global 2022 for the very first time under the umbrella of Tourism Malaysia Los Angeles from April 25 th to 28 th , 2022 in Miami, Florida.
The delegation was led by YB Hee Loy Sian, Selangor State’s Executive Council Member of Tourism and Environment, alongside Tuan Azrul Shah Mohamad, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor and Selangor tourism officers; they brought the flag of Selangor to Miami with the vision to strengthen the State’s cruise tourism segmentation.
The Convention returns this year with participation of over 500 exhibitors from all around the globe, paving the way for the sharing of the latest cruise technology, design and services from the show floor. Meanwhile, framed beneath the theme “Resilience”, Seatrade Cruise Global 2022’s world-class Conference segment gathers the experts, visionaries and like-minded cruise professionals towards shaping the future of cruise tourism.
Tourism Selangor’s participation in Seatrade Cruise Global 2022 is a significant and pro-active move following the re-opening of Malaysian borders to international tourists effective April 1 st , 2022. This also marked the re-operation of Selangor’s Port Klang Cruise Terminal in welcoming commercial Cruise Lines after a long halt due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Port Klang Cruise Terminal is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and amenities such as air-conditioned buildings, link bridges for embarkation and disembarkation, covered walkways, foreign exchange counters, taxi and bus services, terminal security, restaurants, souvenir and gift shops and duty free outlets, and many more.
The terminal, which is the largest and busiest port in Malaysia has over the years welcomed well-known Cruise Lines in the industry from Celebrity Cruises, Regal Cruises, Star Cruises to Royal Caribbean International; making Selangor a preferred port-of-call in South-East Asia.“Seatrade Cruise Global 2022 is the best platform to showcase Selangor’s tourism strengths through its diverse segmentations. Selangor’s debut in this Convention is hoped to strengthen the State’s cruise tourism as one of the leading tourism segmentations in the State as in 2019 pre-pandemic, a total of 171 ships carrying a total of 378,323 passengers had sailed to Port Klang Cruise Terminal.

Meanwhile, Tourism Selangor highlighted its “Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere” in Miami for Seatrade Cruise Global 2022. The Campaign is geared towards positioning Selangor on the global map, especially driven by international Media coverage and social media postings by international travellers.
It also warps around the idea of portraying Selangor as a well-rounded destination of joy. The initiatives include the usage of the #SplendidSelangor and #TakeMeAnywhere hashtags on social media to establish a significant branding of Selangor as a prominent travel destination in South-East Asia.
