In a rare show of appreciation and recognition for people working behind the scenes, the special officer to the State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai came into praise by the Penang Police Department here.

The officer, Choong Yi Zhe has been instrumental in coordinating and liaising with the police department for various cultural and tourism related events in the state.  

For his efforts, the Deputy Chief of Police Penang State, Datuk Muhamed Usuf Jan Mohamad presented Choong with a certificate of appreciation at the 217th Police Day Parade (Penang Contingent level).

“The collaborative efforts have been important in ensuring the success of events such as the Penang Bridge International Marathon and the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival. 

“By working hand in hand, the Penang State Exco office and the Penang State Police have effectively managed logistics, security, and traffic flow, enhancing the experience of both participants and spectators alike.

“The partnership between our office and the police force has been invaluable in managing the diverse array of events that make Penang such a vibrant cultural and tourism destination”, said Wong in a press statement. 

Other collaborations included crucial initiatives such as overseeing traffic flow during major cultural events Chap Goh Meh and the Chingay Parade, ensuring public safety and orderliness during these festivities.

“These joint efforts have not only contributed to the success of individual events but have also bolstered Penang’s reputation as a safe and enjoyable destination for locals and tourists alike.

“The Penang State Exco for Tourism & Creative Economy expresses gratitude to the Penang State Police for their unwavering support, cooperation and collaboration”, added Wong.
