It was a memorable Chinese New Year for 17-year-old student Cheow Chee Hang who had lost his parents and found himself living in deplorable conditions.

Timely assistance came in the form of the state assemblyman for Paya Terubong who is also the State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Yeoh Soon Hin.

Yeoh extended much needed support for the teenager by offering timely moral support for Cheow especially since it was the CNY season.

Earlier this week, Yeoh had also arranged for a major renovation work to commence in Cheow’s home which was affected by dilapidation due to the lack of upkeep since the passing of his parents.

During Yeoh’s CNY visit to Cheow on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year, he further encouraged Cheow to fully concentrate on his studies and promised to provide him the necessary assistance to pursue his education in the future.

“Improving his living condition is one matter but I am more concerned about his education especially when he has to complete the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) this year,” he added.

Yeoh also presented a brand-new laptop to Cheow to ensure he is equipped with the basic amenities to access quality education.

“We hope that through our care and assistance, Chee Hang can feel loved and taken care of by the Paya Terubong family,” he added.

Yeoh and his service centre has also facilitated the application of monetary aid for Cheow to bolster his daily expenses and expenditures.

Yeoh also highlighted that education is one of his priorities, and that he has distributed more than 100 computers since the pandemic outbreak to ensure that the online studies of the students in need are not affected during the period of Movement Control Order.
