The Inaugural EDU X – Penang Education & Career Expo 2023 will be held from May 13 to 14 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre here.
Some 120 booths by 40 exhibitors will lend presence at the fair.
Present to launch the fair was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Yeoh Soon Hin along with Element X Strategies Sdn Bhd founder and chief executive officer, Jason Yap.
Also present was Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) Ashwin Gunasekeran, Dato Khoo Boo Lim, executive director of Study Penang, Francis Teo representing Setia SPICE among others.
In his opening remarks, Yeoh expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Element X Strategies for organising an event that will be impactful for the economic and educational growth in Penang.
“This inaugural Penang Education & Career Expo is themed ‘Your Passport to A Better Future’ and it is a perfect platform for both educational institutions and industries to reach out to students, job seekers and parents on the many available study and career options offered by these institutions and employers. .
“We believe that education and career development are two crucial aspects of personal growth, *which is why the Penang State Government would like to provide opportunities for our young people to access the best education and career prospects, building a prosperous and sustainable future for our state,” said Yeoh.
He also reinforced that education is a fundamental pillar for Penang’s thriving society, and the state government, recognizes its importance.
“As the tourism industry of Penang is picking up the momentum, our industry players are facing the challenges to cater to a large scale of travelers owing to a shortage of labour within our state.
“Many professional jobs and positions are remained unfilled, particularly those that require specialized skills and knowledge,” added Yeoh.
Meanwhile, Ashwin added that Penang aims to position the state an education centre and preferred destination for education related exhibitions. We want to formulate and pioneer Penang as an premier education hub.
