
“Heavyweight” military planes like the American B-52 Stratofortress and the Russian SU-57 are expected to make their presence at this year’s Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2025 from May 20 to May 24, 2025.
Although the B-52 had made its flypast during the LIMA 2023 edition, the SU-57 aka “Felon” will be making its very first appearance in this region.
Both aircrafts are expected to be star attractions for this year’s showcase. However, the appearance of both planes are pending confirmation from relevant authorities.
The Su-57, Russia’s fifth-generation “stealth” fighter is a twin-engine multi-role aircraft developed by Sukhoi. It is capable of aerial combat, ground attack and maritime strikes. The Su-57 incorporates stealth, supermaneuverability, supercruise, integrated avionics, and large payload capacity.
Meanwhile, a record number of countries are expected to take part in the up-coming Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2025 from May 20 to May 24, 2025.
Among them are Turkiye, China, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Russia, the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland among other nations.
The major firms involved are Embraer, MBDA, Leonardo, Fincantieri, Syncrolift, Kongsberg, Rosoboronexport, Roketsan, Aselsan, ASFAT, Boeing, Diehl Defence, BrahMos Aerospace, Naval Group, Thales, Airbus, AVIC and CATIC.
Among the fighter jets on static display or in aerial action are Thailand’s Royal Thai Air Force Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighter, Republic of Singapore Air Force, Russian Knights aerobatic team which fly the highly manoeuvrable Sukhoi Su-30SM and Su-35S fighter jets, Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran aerobatic team flying red-and-white BAE Hawk Mk132.
This year’s theme for LIMA is Innovate Today, Thrive Tomorrow.
