Another international airline will connect Bangkok, Thailand to Penang.
This time around, Thai Lion Air will offer direct flights from the Don Mueang Airport to Penang International Airport (PIA).
The direct flights commence with effect Friday, April 5, 2024.
Flight no SL 132 will depart Don Mueang at 12.10pm and arrive at PIA at 3pm. The return journey by SL133 from Penang to Bangkok is at 4pm.
Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai welcomed news of the direct flight as another added avenue to boost tourism and the economy of Penang.
This development comes on news of AirAsia also resuming flights to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu on a daily wef March 31, 2024.
Other airlines connecting Penang to international destinations are flydubai, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, Batik Air, Singapore Airlines, AirAsia, MAS, China Airlines, Citilink. Sriwijaya Air, Scoot to name a few.
Meanwhile, Shanghai based Juneyao Air will also connect Penang with effect May 31, 2024.
