Beyond bubble tea — Visiting members of the Taiwanese Tourism Bureau at the St Giles Wembley Hotel in George Town, Penang recently.

Penang based travel agents had a close-up view of the latest attractions in Taiwan when a team of officials from the Taiwan Tourism Bureau and industry players gathered at a workshop recently.

The gathering was held at the Wembley Hotel where the “2019 Taiwan Small Town Ramble and Friendly Muslim Tourism” was  introduced to participants.

“Taiwan already has 170 halal restaurants and hotels to cater for Muslim travelers and tourists.

“We want to promote Muslim travellers to Taiwan as out of the 526,000 tourists from Malaysia last year, 15% were Muslim tourists,” said Taiwan Tourism Bureau director for Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Brunei, Abe Chou.

Also present was China Airlines Penang general manager, William Wu and other officials from Taiwan Tourism Bureau.
