The St Anne Church in Bukit Mertajam was finally proclaimed as a Minor Basilica recently.
Present at the ceremony was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, State Exco for Tourism YB Yeoh Soon Hin, Deputy Finance Minister 11 and Member of Parliament for Bukit Mertajam, Steven Sim among thousands of devotees.
Over the years the church has been drawing thousands of worshippers from around the globe. Among them are from Singapore, Thailand,Indonesia, Philippines and even New Zealand and Australia.
The church had worked and answered prayers of thousands over the years.
The ceremony was even more grand as many worshippers could not visit the church during the Covid-19 lockdown.
