Members of the Society of the Golden Keys Malaysia gathered at the Sunway Hotel Georgetown for their Annual General Meeting, bringing together hospitality professionals and industry leaders from across the country for an afternoon of fellowship, networking and appreciation.

The event also saw the presence of several prominent general managers and hotel representatives who came to lend their support to the society and its initiatives within the hospitality industry. 

Among those in attendance were Michael Hanratty, General Manager of G Hotel; Ben Ho, General Manager of Lexis Suites Penang; Nick Ng, General Manager of Holiday Inn Penang; Fadzil Ibrahim, General Manager of The Bertam Hotel; R. Nagaswaran, Hotel Manager of Sunway Hotel Georgetown, John Kim, Director of Operations at Hotel NEO+ Penang, among others.

The gathering commenced with welcoming remarks by Nagaswaran and Thomas Ch’ng, Human Resources Director of G Hotel. 

Both speakers shared heartfelt reflections on their early journeys in the hospitality industry, inspiring members with stories of perseverance, growth and passion for service excellence.

This was followed by an address from Narain Rao, President of the Society of the Golden Keys Malaysia, who expressed his excitement over hosting the AGM in Penang. 

He also extended his appreciation to the management of Sunway Hotel Georgetown for their generous support and warm hospitality in making the event a success.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the presentation of an honorary award to Michael Hanratty in recognition of his unwavering encouragement and strong support towards the society over the years. 

In his speech, Michael expressed his gratitude and shared his personal sense of achievement, recalling how his own hospitality journey began as a concierge before rising through the ranks to become a respected hotel general manager today.

The event concluded with members and guests gathering for a commemorative group photograph to mark the occasion before adjourning for a delightful hi-tea session filled with camaraderie and meaningful conversations.
