The general manager of Doubletree Resort By Hilton Penang and Hilton Garden Inn Puchong, Mohana Kumar Muniandy was judged the “General Manager of the Year (Focused Service) 2021/2022” recently.

The award was a well-deserved recognition of the seasoned hotelier who had persevered in both the hard times and good times to ensure the success of the respective properties.

“I am fortunate to be given this opportunity to offer my thanks to so many amazing people in my journey. I am indebted to all of you, especially my Hilton family. 

“To my team in HGI Puchong and DoubleTree Penang, who deserve this award for their contribution in building this path for me,” said Mohana Kumar.

He also paid tribute and special mention to Jamie Mead, Hilton Regional General Manager, Malaysia along with Alan Watts, President – Asia Pacific at Hilton, Ms Alex Murray, Vice President and Regional Head South East Asia at Hilton and Chris Silcock, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer for the recognition.

“Special thanks to Ms Linda Giebing, Paul Hutton and Ms Shamala Jayabala Krishnan who had believed in him and gave him an opportunity to return to Hilton almost 5 years ago. 

“To my wife, late parents, four wonderful aunts, mother-in-law, my kids who have been the pillars in my life. Paulian mates, you’re forever in my heart. 

“I am extremely grateful to my owners, for their trust in us. My fellow GM’s, your immense continuous support and strength goes beyond just a phone call. 

“My journey is filled with experience from people that continue to inspire and guide me.

“I am truly humbled, and will continue to abide by my responsibility of carving the path for our future and the generations to come. It comes without saying that I am grateful for every moment, however beautiful or difficult it may be,” said Mohana Kumar.
