Happy lot at the Anson Road Market Hawker Centre
Hawkers food operators at the Anson Road Hawker Centre here were a happy lot when the Penang caretaker government’s Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow along with other dignitaries paid a courtesy call there.
The gathering was to launch the newly upgraded premises for the food operators and also to benefit members of the public.
Also present was Penang caretaker government’s committee chairman for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning Mr Jagdeep Singh Deo, Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying, Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng among others.
The Anson Road Market Hawker Centre upgrade at a sum of nearly RM3 million.
“We will ensure all our makets and hawker centres will be upgraded to be as iconic as this, with 16 projects having and being delivered, at more than our 60 such facilities.
“We also hope that everyone maintains these facilities in a proper manner in line with our slogan of being Cleaner, Greener, Healthier and Safer Penang,” added Jagdeep.
With tourism back to full strength in Penang, surely such upgrading project will be well received by visitors and tourists to the island.
It will also give a good image to Georgetown overall.
