Resorts World Cruises is pleased to announce the 1,800-passenger 78,000 gross ton Star Scorpio as the third cruise ship for Resorts World Cruises – “The Cruise Line that Knows Asia Best”. Star Scorpio will introduce dual homeports with departures from both Melaka (28 May – 9 June) and Singapore (26 Mar – 21 July) in 2025.

Passengers can start embarking Star Scorpio from Melaka (via the ICQS cruise terminal) on 28 May with additional departures on 31 May, as well as 3, 6 & 9 June for the 3 Night Cruises to Medan (via Kuala Tanjung) and Singapore during the Malaysian school holiday period in 2025.

As part of Star Scorpio’s dual homeport deployment, passengers can also have the option to embark the Star Scorpio from Singapore to sail to various popular destinations in Southeast Asia. Departures from Singapore will include the 5 Night Melaka-Jakarta Cruises with ten sailings (26 Mar – 15 Apr and 11 June – 1 July) and the 5 Night Bangkok-Koh Samui Cruises (20 Apr – 10 May) with five sailings. Besides that, passengers departing from Singapore can also enjoy the 4 Night Ko Samui-Pulau Redang Cruises (15 – 23 May) with three sailings, the 3 Night Melaka-Medan Cruises (27 May – 8 June) with five sailings or the 5 Night Melaka-Ho Chi Minh Cruises (6 – 21 July) with four departures from Singapore.The homeport deployment of Star Scorpio in Melaka will not only boost the outbound cruise tourism sector for Malaysia, but also the inbound cruise travel, as the ship will also bring international passengers from multiple homeports like Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. With between 10 – 12 hours of port-stay time in Melaka, inbound passengers from these various homeports will have ample time to explore the city and neighbouring destinations like Kuala Lumpur as well, which will further contribute towards the growth of various local travel and tourism sectors.

Malacca

Star Scorpio departs from Melaka at 6pm local time and passengers can embark at the Melaka ICQS cruise terminal, which is conveniently situated in the heart of the city. Upon departure, Star Scorpio will make its way to arrive at Medan via Kuala Tanjong in Indonesia the following day at 7am local time. With 11 hours port stay time, passengers can explore one of Indonesia’s hidden gems with rich culture, diverse ethnicities and friendly residents. Take a step back in time and get a glimpse of the local royal heritage at the landmark Maimoon Palace; the Tjong A Fie Mansion and more. The city of Medan is also known as an amazing culinary spot. Foodies will be thrilled with the choices of local delicacies, such as the signature Soto Medan, Kwetiau Goreng Medan, Teh Susu Telur and Sumatran coffee that are widely available across its city cafes, restaurants and street vendors.

Jakarta

Upon departure, Star Scorpio will arrive in Singapore the following day at 2pm local time to berth at the Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC), which is connected to the HarborFront MRT and VivoCity mall. As such, passengers can commute and explore the city with ease using Singapore’s mass transit system and do more last-minute shopping at the mall. With 9 hours shore time in Singapore, passengers will have loads of time to shop, dine, meet friends, families and even mix a little business with pleasure in Singapore.

Star Scorpio will complete her 3 Night voyage to return to Melaka with an arrival time at 8am local time on the next day, allowing passengers to return early in the morning to work or to their families.

Prior to commencing operations in 2025, Star Scorpio will undergo a US$ 50 million renovation and upgrade in Singapore and will feature many restaurants, bars, showroom and other recreational facilities. Like other Resorts World Cruises ships, Star Scorpio will have amazing entertainment, parties and activities onboard the ship.
