Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus) has launched a pilot project to test the “open payment system” in line with Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) aspiration to embrace digital technology.
The system called “justPay” will serve as an alternative method of payments for ticket payments through QR (Quick Response) or e-Wallet applications.
However, commuters will have to download the justPay application from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. They will also have to register their handphone number and ensure that the one time OTP (One Time Password) for their password verification. They can also top up their balance via internet banking.
Once all of the above is done, they can select the icon TransitPay for the QR code to be displayed.
Commuters will be able to scan the QR code upon embarking and disembarking the buses. The necessary payment will automatically be deducted from their justPay.
The trial period is for two routes, namely the 101 route (Weld Quay – Teluk Bahang) and the 613 route (Penang Sentral- Padang Serai).
The exercise is expected to be completed in August this year,
Meanwhile, according to the chief executive officer of Rapid Bus, Muhammad Yazurin Sallij, the trial period has been completed sometime ago, however, they want to implement the next phase of “Proof of Concept” to involve the commuters.
“Commuters are encouraged to try out the new application and welcome to provide feedback on the processes. All of the feedback will help us in the overall implementation,” he added.

The justPay app has been developed with the collaboration of Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd, (a subsidiary of Prasarana) and Community Marketplace Technology Sdn Bhd.
