Graphic designer Lim Soon Tatt was judged the winner of the logo designing contest in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration of the Adelaide/Georgetown Twin City status.

Lim 29, won a cash award of RM5,000 presented by State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy Yb Yeoh Soon Hin.

Also present was Penang Island City Council mayor Dato A Rajendran and his officers.

“I was quite nervous when I was told to explain my creation in front of so many people,” added Lim who works for a game design company.

Meanwhile, Yeoh in his address thanled the organising committee and officer from the council for hosting the contest successfully.

“It was on December 9, 1973 that the twin city memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed to forge better understanding and cooperation between Penang and South Australia.

“The logo designing contest is the first of a series of events planned to celebrate the occasion. Various promotions are being carried out by Penang Global Tourism and Adelaide to attract visitors to Penang,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rajendran shared that the contest attracted 33 participants and the winning entry has the elements of Penang and also the City of Adelaide.

“The mayor of Adelaide Dr Jane Lomax Smith and her delegation will be in Penang from August 26 till September 1, 2023,” he added.
