Members of the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Setia Ikhlas Pulau Pinang (PKSIPP) carried out a commendable deed to host residents of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Batu Lanchang to a hearty meal and camaraderie recently.
The team consisting of around 12 members brought along a lovely Eurasian lunch spread consisting of chicken debal curry, luncheon meat, chicken cutlet, chicken curry, vegetable stew, cookies, desserts and even a birthday cake to celebrate those born in October.
The meal was prepared by Sabrina De Almeida and assisted by committee members.
They were led by their president, Dato Aloysius Gasper who was also the former president of the Penang Eurasian Association (PEA) along with adviser Dato Baldev Singh, Dato Dr Kulwaran Singh and Dato Dr Alvin Paul.
They were greeted by the home’s Sister Mary Ann and Mother Moria and their caretakers. Retired Rev Fr Robin Andrews gave a blessing prior to the commencement of the luncheon.
With the meals out of the way, it was time to cut the birthday cake accompanied by birthday songs with entertainment by the Kandy’s duo led by singers Gypsy and Sonia.
The visit brought much needed cheer, goodwill and also lifted the spirits of the residents at the home.
According to Aloysius, the programme was one of their inaugural corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects and to give something back to the community.
He also added that the association is made up of well-wishes and volunteers who are dedicated in helping and assisting communities from all walks of life and ethnicity .
The home houses some 100 residents along with volunteers and care-givers.
