The investiture ceremony for the 72nd birthday celebrations of the Governor of Penang Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak was held at Dewan Sri Pinang today.
The event was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow in his address congratulated the Governor on his birthday.
“Penang’s Vision 2030 is focussed on the green agenda and smart state. The Covid-19 challenges should be overcomed to ensure the further development of the state.
“To-date 96% of the adult population in the state have been fully vaccinated. and we are now in Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan.
Meanwhile,as part of the aid to the affected community like small traders, taxi drivers, e-hailing riders, tour guides and trishaw riders, we have allocated RM176.45 million for their assistance.
“We have also spent RM540,000 to buy food baskets which were distributed to 10,800 people who were affected by the pandemic.
“Another RM400,000 was spent to purchase 40,000 self testing kits to be distributed by the various service centres and state assemblymen. We also collaborated with NGOs like the PgCare Alliance atau GabunganPgCare to help the sectors of the community,” said Chow.
He also highlighted that to further enhance investment and employment, firms like AMD Global Services, Clarivate, Citigroup, Jabil,Teleperformance, Synapse, Starfive, UST Global have created some 12,000 high value jobs.
The guard-of-honour was made up by the Third Regiment from the Armoury Corps or made up of 103 members and three officers headed by Major Amir Ilham Mohd Yusof.
The orchestra were from the Malaysian Air Force under the tutelage of Major Mohd Rizal Mohd Noor.
A 17 gun-salute was also held at the ceremony.
Also present was State Speaker Dato Law Choo Kiang, Deputy Chief Minister 1 Dato’ Ir. Haji Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman, Deputy Chief Minister 11, Profesor Dr. Ramasamy Palanisamy and other state assemblymen.
A total of 1,036 people received their awards in conjunction with the birthday celebration.
