A delegation led by Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai, recently paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Penang, Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, at his official residence, Seri Mutiara.

Joining Wong were key leaders from Penang’s tourism and business events sectors: Ashwin Gunasekeran, Chief Executive Officer of the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB); Ooi Chok Yan, Chief Executive Officer of Penang Global Tourism (PGT); and Dr. Ang Ming Chee, General Manager of George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI).

The visit served as a platform to highlight the dynamic role of PCEB and PGT in driving Penang’s tourism growth. Updates were shared on ongoing initiatives and strategic plans focused on attracting international business events, expanding tourist markets, and strengthening Penang’s position as a leading destination in the region.

“This session was a valuable opportunity to brief the Governor on our collaborative efforts to raise Penang’s global profile and economic resilience through tourism and the creative economy,” said Wong, who also serves as Chairman of both PCEB and PGT, and as a board member of GTWHI.

The visit concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to the Governor, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
