As part of its smart initiatives programme, the Penang State Government has implemented 108 projects towards betterment and uplifting the quality of life in the state.
Among them is the installation of LED street lights in the island.
To witness the completion of the last unit of the LEDÂ light installation in Macallum area, State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo and Penang Island City Council secretary engineer Dato A. Rajendran were on hand.
“Penang’s Smart City, Green and Family Focused Agenda continues as 108 Smart initiatives will be increased. I am here to witness our 100% installation of 33,101 LED street lights on the Island.
“We are also monitoring the Seberang Perai City Council, which out of 77,359 now has reached 49,451 installations.
“Thanks to our frontliners at both City Councils and also TNB.
“We are moving forward in a quick manner and this includes our successes such as the Penang Smart Parking app, E-payments at all our government agencies and also at our facilities such as markets.
“I have called upon the Federal Government in my recent meeting with the Minister that states that have achieved such smart initiatives should be given incentives for these initiatives,” said Jagdeep.
He also added that by the end of this the state’s smart initiatives will easily reach till 150 in total.
