The Penang state government is seeking the urgent approval of the Ministry of Health to obtain two million doses of Covid-19 vaccine from China.

The vaccines are free as it is a donation from a donor.

Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow also questioned the double standards of when other states like Sarawak and Selangor are allowed to receive their vaccine from other parties while Penang is not allowed.

“The contribution of the vaccines is free and we urgently seek the federal government’s approval on this matter.

“We will require the answer from the Federal Government quickly so that we can revert to the donor,” added Chow.

Also present at the press conference was former Finance Minister and former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and state exco members.
