In elevating the cruise industry in Penang to the next level, a inaugural town hall session with the relevant stakeholders was held at the Jazz Hotel Penang recently.
Present at the session was Dato Yeoh Soon Hin, the chairman of the Penang Port Commission.
Accompanying him was Dato Dr. Vijayaindiaran R. Viswalingam, general manager of PPC and other PPC officers.
The town hall session also saw various stakeholders involved in cruise activities in Penang, such as Penang Port Sdn Bhd, government agencies, associations, cruise agents, MAH Penang, travel agents and ground transport providers.
The town hall session which was chaired by the Yeoh was aimed to provide a briefing on cruise activities at the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) and to discuss related issues, identifying opportunities for improving cruise activities in Penang.
PPC expressed its sincere gratitude for the strong support and close cooperation provided by all parties during the town hall session.
Various opinions were shared, and both PPC and PPSB will review these matters thoroughly.
The cruise ship industry is one of the important components for the state’s overall economy and tourism sector.
Among the cruise ships coming to the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal are by the Royal Caribbean International, Resort World Cruises, Oceania Cruise, Virgin Cruises, Aegean Paradise, AIDAbella, Celebrity Millennium, Marella Discovery 2, World Odyssey, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Costa Cruises among others.
