MATTA Fair Penang stakeholders

The up-coming Malaysian Association and Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Penang chapter will hold its fair on Sept 30th and Oct 1, 2023 at the Setia Spice Arena.
They will offer some 250 booths and expect around 35,000 visitors.
MATTA Penang Chapter chairman, Ms Carolyn Leong also shared that there will be attractive packages for local and foreign destinations at a press conference at the Wembley Hotel here.
Also present was MATTA national deputy president Sheikh Awadh Sheikh Abdullah and Ms Ding Qiao, vice consul general of the People’s Republic of China in Penang.
“We target some RM30 million in turnover as we expect visitors from the whole of the Northern Region. From experience, among the popular destinations are China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Hong Kong and Europe,” added Leong.
Meanwhile, Sheikh added that the MATTA Fair will also help revive the tourism industry and the Penang Fair is only 2nd after the KL MATTA fair.
Ms Ding added that there are around 100 million travellers from China and Malaysia and Penang are among their favourite destinations.
“It is also convenient as they are able to get a visa upon arrival or VOA,” she added.

Tony Goh, general manager of Wembley Hotel, Datuk Lim Mee Lee PHA chairman, Ken Tan (AirAsia), Mary Ann Harris, executive director Penang Centre of Medical Tourism, Dato Ch’ng Huck Theng among others.
This was followed by their networking dinner session and pre-launch of MATTA Fair Penang Chapter.
During the networking dinner session, Leong introduced her new officer bearers.
Guests were entertained to a live band performance and a lucky draw session.
