Welcoming the new Tourism Exco at the PHA dinner

The Penang Hoteliers Association (PHA) celebrated its 66th anniversary in grand style at the St Giles Wembley Hotel last night.
More than 700 guests turned up to show support to the evening of camaraderie and goodwill.
Guest-of-honour was the newly appointed Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai.
He was greeted by the president of PHA, Dato Lim Mee Lee, Alex Loo, organising chairman and their committee.
Also present was the Vice Consul General Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Penang, Mdm Ding Qiao, Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) National vice president, Dato Khoo Boo Lim, MAH Penang Chapter chairman, Tony Goh, Ashwin Gunasekeran CEO of Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau, (PCEB), Ooi Chok Yan CEO of Penang Global Tourism (PGT), Ms Mary Ann Harris executive director of P.MED among others.
In his opening remarks, Wong paid tribute to the resilience and resurgence of Penang’s tourism industry players and praised the spirit of the people.
“The determination of our entrepreneurs and business sector should be applauded.
“As we celebrate resilience and recovery, it is also essential to focus on the future. Elevating the quality of service in our hotels is a shared goal. This includes enhancing guest experiences through top-notch customer service, modern amenities, and sustainable practices.
“Together, we can make Penang a beacon of hospitality, a sanctuary of heritage, and a testament to human resilience,” he called.

Meanwhile, Dato Lim welcomed the new State Exco for Tourism and thanked him for attending their get-together.
“We look forward for your support to more new developments for the tourism industry with you taking the lead.
“We also urge the government to explore new ways of bringing in tourists including promotions and direct flight to Penang,” added Lim in his opening remarks.
Guests were also feted to a fine Chinese course dinner along with a solo artist performance and a lucky draw session.
