Penang is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the Malaysia Madani Penang Indian E&E SME Summit 2024, held on yesterday (August 22, 2024). 

This groundbreaking event empowered and supported Malaysian Indian-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Electrical and Electronics (E&E) sector, a crucial pillar of the state’s thriving economy. 

Guest of honour was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow.

Also present was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai, State Exco for Housing and Environment YB Dato Seri S Sundarajoo and PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran among others.

The one-day summit, aligned with the Malaysia MADANI vision, focused on fostering innovation, bridging development gaps, and improving accessibility for Indian E&E SMEs. 

It brought together a diverse array of stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, policymakers, industry experts, and investors, to address the key challenges and opportunities facing the sector. 

Through collaborative discussions, the summit provided a roadmap for Indian SMEs to navigate the complexities of the E&E industry, ensuring their growth and sustainability in an increasingly competitive market. The summit’s program featured expert panel discussions where industry leaders shared their experiences and insights on critical topics, including how to become successful suppliers to multinational corporations (MNCs), strategies for global expansion, and enhancing women’s participation in SMEs. 

Attendees benefited from ample networking opportunities, allowing them to forge partnerships and collaborations with industry peers and potential clients. Additionally, an exhibition area showcased cutting-edge products and services tailored for both SMEs and MNCs in the E&E sector, providing a platform for businesses to explore new solutions and connect with potential partners.  

This event represented a significant step towards nurturing the growth and sustainability of Indian-owned SMEs in Penang’s vital E&E sector. It aligned with the state’s commitment to inclusive economic development and technological advancement while also showcasing Penang’s capabilities as a hub for innovation and high-value business events. By focusing on SMEs, particularly those from the Indian community, the summit aimed to create a more diverse and resilient economic landscape in the state. 

As Penang continues to position itself as a leader in the E&E sector, the Malaysia Madani Penang Indian E&E SME Summit 2024 stood as a testament to the state’s dedication to fostering a vibrant and inclusive business ecosystem. The summit not only catalyzed growth in the E&E sector but also contributed to the overall economic development of Penang and Malaysia. Through collective efforts and shared knowledge, the event played a pivotal role in shaping the future of Indian SMEs, empowering them to seize new opportunities and drive innovation in the global marketplace.

The event was hosted by the state assemblyman for Batu Uban, YB A. Kumarasen while the conference chairman was Dato Ts Dr Shanmuganathan.
