Penang is forging full steam ahead with its renewable energy projects with the official launch of its solar panels project at three government buildings in the mainland.
On hand to launch the commendable project was Penang state exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo.
“We encourage more buildings in the state to go green and install solar panels which will save costs and save the environment and climate change.
“This joint venture between the MBSP and TNB is a good example in moving forward to overcome the drastic climate change and also at much lesser cost,” said Jagdeep.
Also present was MBSP president Dato Rozali Mohamud who added that more projects are in the pipeline to install solar panels in the mainland.
“This agreement with TNB was signed in 2019 and we are also able to sell excess power created from these solar panels back to TNB. It is a win-win situation,” he added.
He also added that the project are in line with the state’s smart and green initiatives.
“By 2030 some 15% of the energy will be renewable energy therefore we encourage more factories and private buildings to adopt solar panels,” he said.
