Penang Deputy Chief Minister 11, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo is committed to serve the party and the people of Penang.
With the state DAP elections around the corner on Sunday, September 22, Jagdeep says that he is willing to lead and serve the people in Penang.
“For me, it has always been the “party first” and I will always be here to serve and take care of the welfare and well-being of the people in my constituency and in the state of Penang”, he said.
Jagdeep is a four term assemblyman for Datuk Keramat and has served as a state Exco for three terms.
Meanwhile, the present Chief Minister and state DAP chairman YAB Chow Kon Yeow has opted not to contest in the state DAP elections. He has served the state for more than 25 years.
Some 31 DAP officials from Penang will be contesting in the elections since the State Exco for Housing, Dato Seri S Sundarajoo has withdrawn from the elections.
He had issued a press statement to this effect.
The top 15 candidates from the pool of contestants will choose the next DAP chairman for the state.
Among the other bigwigs contesting in the elections are Bukit Mertajam Member of Parliament and Human Resources Minister YB Steven Sim, Tanjong Member of Parliament and Deputy Finance Minister YB Lim Hui Ying, Bukit Gelugor Member of Parliament YB Ramkarpal Singh and State Exco for Transport and Infrastructure, YB Zairil Khir Johari among others.
The Secretary-General of DAP who is also the Transport Minister, YB Anthony Loke will officiate the convention.
The Penang state DAP elections will be held at the Setia SPICE Arena.
