Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow visited the City Stadium where mass screening is underway as of this morning.

He was accompanied by state exco for Housing, Local Government and Town & Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo and other state officials.

Chow commended those involved in the screening process on the first day of operations at the venue.

“Similar to other states, Penang had also announced its plans to fight this pandemic through mass screening.

“Presently, this programme involves some 40 constituencies and is fully paid by the state government. Today, some of the constituencies involved are Sungai Pinang Datuk Keramat, Pulau Tikus, Batu Lancang and Pengkalan Kota.

“Around 500 to 600 people are expected to be screened today,” said Chow after his tour of the centre.

He also added that similar programmes will be carried out in the mainland at Seberang Perai, Penanti and Permatang Pasir to screen residents there on July 10 and 11.
