In conjunction with the upcoming Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM), a Treasure Hunt was held at the Klippa, Batu Kawan.
Presiding at the ceremony was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai recently.
“For decades, the Penang Bridge International Marathon has stood as one of Penang’s most iconic events—drawing thousands of runners from across Malaysia and around the world. More than just a race, PBIM celebrates health, endurance, and the “Penang spirit” that unites people from all walks of life.
“In recent years, we have worked to extend PBIM’s influence beyond race day itself. By hosting related events such as this Treasure Hunt and Fashion Show here in Batu Kawan, we are not only creating new experiences for our runners but also positioning Batu Kawan as a vibrant hub for sports, tourism, and lifestyle events.
“The transformation has been remarkable. Inspired by the spirit of PBIM, a growing number of community-based sporting events are now taking root in Batu Kawan—from the MILO Breakfast Run, Jabil Fun Walk, and LEADERland “I’m a Leader” Walk, to the Rotary “From Darkness to Light” Walk, Public Service Excellence Run, JCI Pearl Run, Shell 5KM Fun Run, and Tian Siang BMW Run,” said Wong.
Since PBIM relocated to Aspen Vision City, Batu Kawan last year, the area has seen eight running events lined up for 2025, further cementing its reputation as a rising hotspot for active living and sports tourism.
“These events are not isolated—they form an interconnected sports tourism ecosystem inspired by the PBIM spirit. Together, they promote healthy living, foster community bonds, attract visitors, and inject new energy into the local economy. Batu Kawan is rapidly emerging as Penang’s new capital of sports and active lifestyle.
“Today, we also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the 100 participants who joined the inaugural PBIM Treasure Hunt. Your enthusiasm and energy have made this event a resounding success—bringing life, excitement, and joy to Batu Kawan,” added Wong.
He also presented “Golden Tickets” to lucky winners, who will enjoy exclusive privileges on race day—including VIP access, breakfast in the VIP tent, dedicated parking, priority starting positions, and exclusive PBIM x Decathlon merchandise.
Up next, we’ll turn the spotlight to the PBIM Fashion Show—a much-anticipated highlight that celebrates creativity, energy, and the colorful culture surrounding the Penang Bridge Marathon.
Among the sponsors for the event was Klippa, IKEA Batu Kawan, Aspen, Brooks, Proton, Decathlon and Emico.
