The Penang Adventist Hospital organised its Spin for Charity 2.0: Ride Pink, Give Hope event to bring together supporters, cancer survivors and community at Straits Quay to spin with purpose, raise awareness and give hope to those fighting cancer.
Held in conjunction with Pink October, the fundraising event began at 8am with four 45 minutes spin sessions, each welcoming up to 50 participants. Led by professional instructors, participants rode together in an energetic show of solidarity and support.
Adding a special meaning to the event were cancer survivors who joined the ride, celebrating their journeys of courage and recovery.
One of them, Lynda, shared a heartfelt message: “I was once diagnosed with cancer, and today, I am here, recovered and able to take part in this ride. Keep believing and stay positive. One day, you can be here too.”
With the generous support of participants, donors, corporate partners and the community, over RM300,000 was successfully raised for the Cancer Fund to provide medical assistance to needy patients.
Beyond fundraising, the event brought the community together through free health screenings and breast cancer education by Penang Adventist Hospital Community Health Department, encouraging everyone to take a more active role in their health. The Penang Chefs Association added warmth to the morning by providing complimentary refreshments for participants, while selected items were also sold to support the Cancer Fund.
The event also featured a bra recycling campaign in collaboration with Neubodi, giving the community another meaningful way to care, contribute and support the cause. The bra recycling campaign will continue until the end of October. Public are welcome to drop off their clean, washed and dried bras at the bra recycling bin located at the Penang Adventist Oncology Centre.
As the final spin turns, the message of Spin for Charity 2.0 continues: ride for those who are fighting, stand with those who have overcome, and give hope to those who need it most.
