Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) celebrated its 98th anniversary and its Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the presence of Penang Chief Minister, YAB Chow Kon Yeow along with PAH’s president and chief executive officer Ronald Koh.
Also present was the representative of the Consul of The Republic Of Indonesia in Penang, Ibu Lusy Surjandari, Member of Parliament for Bukit Bendera, YB Syerleena Abdul Rashid and Pulau Tikus state assemblyman, Chris Lee.
Since its inception in 1924, PAH has done a lot of charitable work for the needy community.
Under their Dr J Earl Gardner Fund, they raised RM3.2 million last year to help almost 4,000 beneficiaries especially from the B40 group.
“It is truly an honour for me to be part of the 98th anniversary and Christmas tree fundraiser lighting ceremony today. heartiest congratulations and I am looking forward to your 100th anniversary in two years time.
“Penang Adventist Hospital is synonymous with “Poor Treated Free” and “God Heals, We Help”. As a mission hospital, I applaud your effort in raising funds and reaching out to the needy.
“I also urge all Penangites. corporate organisations and philanthropists to continue donating to this worthy cause,” said Chow in his address.
Meanwhile, Koh added that the hospital has evolved from a small clinic at Muntri Street to become a tertiary healthcare facility.
“Today, the hospital is supported by more than 80 specialists and offers more than 27 specialisations using up-to-date medical facilities. We also have the state-of-the-art Nuclear Medical Centre, the first in private hospitals in the Northern Region,” said Koh.
Guests were also entertained by the hospital’s in-house capella group with popular seasonal numbers.
PAH also put up 98 mini Christmas trees which served to raise funds for their good work.
