The PDX 2026 is underway at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre.

Present to launch the gathering was Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai. The event brings together businesses, policymakers, researchers, entrepreneurs and young innovators from across Malaysia and beyond to exchange ideas on one of the most important transformations of our time.

In his opening speech Wong stressed the importance of digitalization which influences the way we manufacture, manage businesses, deliver public services, create content and engage with customers across almost every industry.

“For Penang, these conversations are especially meaningful. Our state’s economic success has always been built on our ability to embrace change. “More than five decades ago, Penang positioned itself as a centre for advanced manufacturing. That decision laid the foundation for the vibrant industrial ecosystem we see today.

“As the global economy enters a new era driven by artificial intelligence, automation and data, we must once again be prepared to evolve and ensure that Penang remains competitive for the decades ahead,” stressed Wong .

He also stressed that digital transformation is not simply about adopting new tools. It is about cultivating talent, encouraging collaboration and creating an environment where ideas can be translated into meaningful outcomes for businesses and communities alike.

“Penang is fully committed to playing its part. Our strengths in advanced manufacturing, the semiconductor industry and business services provide a strong foundation, while our growing emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship and talent development ensures that we continue moving in the right direction,” added Wong.

He later joined hands with VIP guests to launch the gathering.
